The Native Noise Acoustic Collection

November 18, 2004

The Native Noise Acoustic Collection is a free downloadable compilation of rare, live & unplugged South African talent.

Paul managed to convince a number of local artists to expose their music in the purist form. Bands would perform a few songs unplugged, live on the air. The tracks went out live with no effects, overdubs, mastering or any of the fancy button twiddling that happens in recording studios. The aim was to reveal the core of outstanding music by stripping down songs to the bare essentials. Most songs were performed with just vocals and 1 or 2 acoustic guitars. A few bands went all out and added bongo drums, acoustic bass, keyboards and even trumpets. In essence the Native Noise Acoustic Collection was a live broadcast of intimate acoustic performances.

At the end of 2004 Paul decided to make some of the songs performed on the show available permanently. Of the 145 tracks performed live for the Native Noise Acoustic Collection 21 songs were selected for the album. Because of the raw and unproduced nature of the material Paul decided to release the songs “bootleg style” as a free MP3 album to be downloaded via NativeNoise.co.za. The songs can be downloaded along with the CD covers from www.nativenoise.co.za

Hello and regards from Loisville, KY, USA.

I was wondering if you would know where I might start in finding a copy of The View (SUPERFINE) album “What You Want”.
    What label produced the album?
Would sure appreciate any help you could give me. I truly enjoyed listening to the Native Noise Acoustic Collection. Thank you so much. Linette Britt

    Hi Linette
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. The band released ‘What You Want’ independently and sadly it is out of print. I contacted them directly about getting a new copy of the album 3 years ago and they said that it was no longer available. Hopefully it will resurface as a re-issue in the future.
