Amsterdam – Berlin – Prague

The trip’s been brilliant so far, I’ve been hanging out with a stack of really good people, I’ve started picking up on a fair bit of Aussie slang!

Amsterdam was interesting, got stoned in the park and went to a live sex show, it wasn’t as disturbing as I expected. Of course there were also other normalish things going on, like the Anne Frank House and the Heineken Experience (a tour of the brewery).

Berlin was fun. Did a walking tour and then went to the Checkpoint Charlie museum, very interesting. There is just SO much history it is really such a powerful city.

The nightlife in Berlin was also brilliant. I went on a pub crawl that took us to 5 clubs, I only made it to number 4 before I had to go home, can’t take the pace! Met lots of interesting people that night, I have a stack of photos but can’t say I remember all of their names.

With much effort I got up the next day and took a train to Potsdam. It’s a small town a bit out of Berlin with a pile of royal palaces (well 3). I took a bus-tour with a crazy German lady that kept laughing at her own jokes, and when she laughs she laughs for absolute ages. I got home fairly late that evening and had an early night. I was woken up at 5 am when one of my roommates started to snore until 7am! -He’d clearly been on the pub crawl.

Prague was really enjoyable, I met an entire group of new people and had some good times with them. On Saturday night we went to a 5 story club and only left at 5am on Sunday morning, it was a good party. The sightseeing side of Prague was also fantastic. We did a walking tour the first night that ended in a really good meal, Goulash and dumplings. We took a good stroll up to the Prague castle, there is such a spectacular view of the city from up there. We had the best view after climbing all 887 steps to the top of the tower.

Yesterday we took a day trip to Khutna Hora and went to a church that was decorated with human bones. It was quite creepy but very interesting. The church’s tomb was overfilled so an artist was commissioned to decorate the castle using the bones. The giant skull chandelier is something you have to see.

I’m in Vienna now. Just busy doing some washing, It’s been SO hot, I have to get some done. Haven’t made plans yet will probably go to a music museum and a few other sights tomorrow.
