Vienna – Salzburg – Munich – St. Johan

July 27, 2005

Just a quick email before I hop on a bus to Venice. I have had trouble accessing my email address book so I could only reply to messages -those who’ve emailed me will be slightly more up to date than the rest of ya (hint hint!)

I’m in Austria now, a place called St. Johan. It’s a gorgeous mountainous area. The ski season is supposed to be great but in summer it’s a haven for extreme sports and just an amazingly picturesque spot.

I just went paragliding about 15 mins ago – what a rush, flying over the mountains and doing aerobatics, it was awesome. Yesterday I hired a bicycle and rode around the town, tried to go up a mountain but gave up on that fairly soon. I also went on the tobbogan run a few times, you ride down a concrete path on a little plastic sledge, I came off and got some impressive roasties!

Before St. Johan I was in Munich, had a good time at the beer halls there! Spent most of my tiem hanging out with some fellow South Africans. Was great to hear a bit of slang from home.

Salzburg was brilliant, gave the Sound of Music stuff a miss but went to an Ice Cave, it was absolutely amazing! Vienna was cool but not one of my favourite cities on the trip.

Well I have to run, got a bus to catch. About to start my 2 weeks in Italy…. Pizza!! Will be in touch.

Love Paul

P.S. I’m not worried about all this terrorism bull in London, I won’t let the bastards ruin this trip. Just gotta be more aware of my surroundings.
