He’s building walls
To keep others out and himself in
Instead of bricks he lines up lots of little boxes
He fills the boxes with people
He’ll have a wall of music
A wall of religion
A wall of race
A wall of class
A wall of gender
A wall of interests
A wall of ignorance
A wall of intelligence
And when he’s finished building all these walls
He’ll look at all the boxes
And find himself in his own box
A box with no lid and space for only him
Building with Boxes
