The circumstances create such an easy excuse
If they put their hearts on the line it will only be a telephone line
They keep in touch but stay out of reach
They reach each other but need a connection
They connect on many levels but cannot touch
They sympathize, understand and care without ever being there
They’ll pour their hearts out on keyboards and cellphones
But never share how much those hearts let in
Instead of conquering distance with their closeness
They’ll keep looking closer to home for someone far more distant
