It’s You, Not Me

December 27, 2007

My lack of action is based in logic
Valid excuses and steadfast reasons
Keeping a safe distance and time apart
Even my standards can’t be so high
Distracting myself with tiresome sagas
I’ll keep looking through blinkers
When I finally see that it is you
I’ll realise that, all this time, it always was

You speak with hints and innuendo
You write in rhyme and riddle
I’ll read between the lines
And find myself within those spaces
Alluding to men that can only be me
I can’t find your truth in all that jest
When you finally say that it’s not me
I’ll realise that, all this time, it never was
