Thematic Gallery child theme customisation tutorials

January 22, 2011

My portfolio site is powered by WordPress and a combination of all the tricks that make it awesome. The site uses the Gallery theme, created by Chris Wallace, on the Thematic framework. Gallery is a thematic child-theme which means that editing and customising it takes a slightly different approach to the usual methods of editing WordPress themes.

One of the best things about using WordPress is the huge community of people sharing ideas, asking questions and offering advice. So generally the University of Google has all the answers you need. As much as the Thematic framework makes it easy to knock up a new theme, it is harder to find answers for specific questions. The Thematic forums are very helpful but obviously the community isn’t as huge as the general WordPress community. I get quite a few emails from people wanting to customise the Gallery theme, so I’ve decided to put some of my replies online as a few tips and tutorials. I hope the following help people out.

Click on the links to the left for each topic. I’ll be adding new tutorials as I find time, so please keep checking back.
