Lewis Watson – What About Today? on Facebook

Lewis Watson’s product manager, Alex Burford, set up a campaign to use fan photos in a video mosaic. Fans submitted photos of themselves listening to Lewis’ EP via Instagram hashtags. He then enlisted Powster to compile the photos as a mosaic over a video of Lewis performing ‘What About Today?’.

While the video looks great, the images in the mosaic were really small so it would be hard for fans to identify themselves. To clearly display the photos I built a Facebook tab to house the video surrounded by thumbnails of all the fan photos. I used the jQuery Hoverzoom plugin to easily enlarge the images in the gallery. Due to the number of photos in the gallery I also used jQuery Lazyload to speed up the initial page load.

The Facebook tab looked great and added an extra level of engagement while presenting the video.
