In the run-up to Christmas Michael Bublé’s Christmas album is a massive priority. We wanted to do something clever with viral potential so my idea was to make a personalised Christmas Card generator so fans could send an eCard “from Michael & Me”.

I briefed Harkable who came back with a plan to show Michael unwrapping a personalised gift. We managed to squeeze a few minutes into a filming session and secured footage of Michael unwrapping presents with a green screen behind him. The production company, Steam London, added in some Christmassy effects and Harkable added an intro and outro to the video.

The app allows users to select a Facebook photo from one of their albums or one of their friends. They can then choose whether Michael will be pleased or disappointed with the gift – a framed copy of the photo they selected.

I focussed heavily on the virality of the app and ensured that the personalised video would be embedded in the feed & timeline when shared on Facebook. It also ends with an end-slate linking to buy the album and an icon letting viewers know that they can create their own video.

The app had a phenomenal response fans and the media. Michael Bublé himself even asked to have his appreciation passed on. All in all, I’d say the app was a great success and one I’m proud to have project managed.
